FAQs
What employment opportunities are there with Dart?
2008 has seen us expand our work force and it is pleasing to mention that most of our new team members have been employed from the North East region. It may take another two years before the workforce is increased further, for example for the development a gold mining operation.
During our exploration phase we have limited employment opportunities, but Dart is committed to a local supplier policy, with the aim of hiring employees and sourcing equipment and services locally wherever possible.
We look forward to being able to offer many more opportunities in the future.
Will you be developing a gold mine?
We are currently undertaking detailed exploration of our tenement areas with the goal of identifying a commercially viable resource. This exploration could take another two years.
Once a resource is identified, Dart will work towards developing a mining operation in the region, in conjunction with community and government consultation.
What exploration activities are you undertaking at the moment?
To date our activities have been primarily focused on selectively collecting samples; including water, soil, rock chip and stream sediment from throughout our licensed areas. These non-invasive samples are assayed at independent laboratories with the results used to gradually piece together the geological and mineralization jig saw of our targeted areas.
This sampling together with our moderate short hole drilling programs have yielded encouraging results and provided vital information for our skilled geological team to interpret and utilize in future programmes.
First round drilling of the Fairley's, Mt Elliot and Mountain View projects are now complete and follow up diamond drilling has commenced on the Mt Elliot and Mountain View projects to further confirm assay's received. Drilling at the Fairley's prospect has been suspended pending a full review and interpretation of the assay results from the initial drill programme.
A significant molybdenum anomaly has been identified at the Unicorn porphyry base metals project, and a short drill programme will commence following planning approval from local authorities. Additional geochemistry sampling and a review and interpretation of assays from the nearby Mt Morgan porpyry project is also underway. Drilling of the North Mammoth porphyry target is scheduled for August to utilise the Rediscover Victoria Drilling (RVD) grant issued by the Victorian Government.
Details of our current and planned drilling programmes can be found in our latest quarterly report.
Where are your current targets?
Our current targets are:
- The new concept Unicorn porpyhry base metals project situated in state forest where a significant molybdenum anomaly has been identified
- The old goldfields at Mountain View and Mt Elliot – continuing to drill in state forest under stringent environmental guidelines and with the support of the Government
- North Mammoth, a new concept target, situated in state forest just on the northern side of the Gibbo River Bridge
- The historic workings at the Fairley’s prospect in the Buckland EL – continuing our drill programmes in state forest under stringent environmental guidelines and with the support of the Government
Are you conducting alluvial gold mining in the Nariel Valley?
There has never been alluvial gold mining, collecting surface gold nuggets found in rivers and streams, in the Nariel Valley and Dart has no intention of starting. Dart is targeting the gold contained in hard rock in the hills at the head of the valley, in areas currently covered by state forest.
Are you funding any major infrastructure?
Dart is not currently funding any major infrastructure projects, eg railway lines, nor does it have any plans to fund any projects in the near future. The current infrastructure surrounding our target areas will meet the needs of our planned activities.
Are you purchasing private land for your exploration?
Dart Mining is not involved in any commercial or residential land subdivisions, our base is on leased premises within the Nariel Valley.
To date the vast majority of our exploratory work has been conducted within the state forest areas of our tenements. A small percentage of drilling and sampling has been carried out on private property, and then only with the signed consent of landholders.
Where can I find out more about your activities?
Dart raised A$5million for a committed exploration program as detailed in our prospectus. Click here to download a copy of the prospectus.
